Becky Sjovall Obituary

 

Becky L. Sjovall, age 48, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at her home under Hospice care, surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Watertown, SD. Father John Fischer will be the celebrant. Music will be provided by Jane Rokusek as the organist with Alan Helgeson as soloist and Blaine Martian as the song leader. The family is requested to meet at the church on Tuesday by 10:00 a.m. for a prayer service. The service will be live-streamed via Crawford-Osthus Facebook page and recorded. Face masks are required.

Visitation will take place prior to services at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.

Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Watertown, SD. Honorary pallbearers will be Becky’s nieces and nephews: Abe Martin, Taylor, Allison and Tommy Johnson, Jordan (Florey) Kampa, Carter Block, Bailey and JP Florey, and Brandon Helde. Active pallbearers will be her nephews: Tyler Block, Andy Martin, Alex Martin, Logan Block, Lane Florey and Zachary Helde.

Becky L. Johnson was born on January 17, 1973, to Phillip and Lorraine (Anderson) Johnson in Sioux Falls, SD. She attended school in Watertown, SD, graduating from Watertown High School in 1991. She attended LATI for Early Childhood Development and moved to Minnesota and worked in childcare in Hutchinson and Delano. Becky later returned to Watertown to care for her mom. During this time she was employed at Star Laundry and Pond’s Bakery. She was also employed at Econo Foods until opening her in-home daycare that she operated until November 16, 2018, due to her cancer.

On April 26, 2003, Becky married Craig Sjovall at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown, SD.

Becky enjoyed cooking shows, word searches and doing crossword puzzles.  She also liked fishing, dancing, concerts and rummage sales. She was also a collector of lighthouses and Precious Moment figurines.  Becky was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and enjoyed attending Watertown Arrows football games and boys and girls basketball games.

She is survived by her husband, Craig and her children, Megan and Cameron of Watertown, SD; her father, Phillip Johnson, of Watertown, SD; her in-laws, Richard and Imogene Helgeson of Watertown, SD;  her brother, Mike (Mandy) Johnson, of Sioux Falls, SD; her sister, Sheri (Ross) Martin, of Watertown, SD; her sisters-in-law: Paula (John) Florey, of Aberdeen, SD, Kimberly (Matt) Helde, of Sartell, MN, and Barbra (Todd) Block, of Roslyn, SD.
