Ione Braun

Ione Marie Simi Braun joined her heavenly family on Sunday, January 17, 2021 following a brief hospital stay due to COVID-19. Born in Cheverly, Maryland on September 19, 1955, to mother Irene Sera Simi and the late Adrian Joseph Simi of Bowie. A loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend, Ione was dedicated to her husband of 17 years Mark Braun (US Navy retired), was the constant companion to her loving mother Titi and had great respect for her ever-supportive uncle Dr. Carlos and aunt Rina Sera of Bowie. Ione had a great love of movies, all things purple, Elvis, karaoke, Facebook and her fur babies as her dogs were her and Mark’s chosen children. A graduate of Elizabeth Seton High School, Ione held several administrative positions, serving as a long-time patient billing and insurance specialist at Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC). Ione loved traveling and meeting new people but had the biggest heart for her brother Michael Adrian Simi and wife Shelly Snyder Simi and nephews Connor, Garrett, Adam and Blake, lifetime Buddy John Bigley and best friends Cathie Meyer Bower, Lani Pottle and Julie Anderson. A memorial service to honor and celebrate Ione will be held at St. Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 15100 New Hampshire Ave, Silver Spring, MD on Sunday March 21, 2021 at 1:30 pm. The ceremony will adhere to strict COVID-19 guidelines including requiring face-masks and 6-ft separation.
