Juan "J.J." Garza

Juan “J.J.” Garza, 58, passed away January 19, 2021 surrounded by his family at his home in Channelview, Texas. J.J. was born on September 19, 1962 in Laredo, Texas to parents Jose and Hortencia Chavez Garza. He worked as a prison guard and later he was a petroleum inspector for many years. J.J. was a dedicated and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, camping, gardening and having cookouts with his family. J.J. fought a courageous battle with cancer for years, yet he was able to leave a legacy of strength and watch his children grow, as he survived many years beyond what he and his family were told he would by doctors. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Berta A. Garza; children, Joshua J. Garza, Esmeralda Y. Garza, Juan J. Garza Jr. and wife Arlene, Gesenia G. Garza; sisters and brother, Rosalinda Zelaya and husband Paris, Josefina Contreras, Lydia Palacios and husband Bernardo, Jesus Ramirez and wife Gabriela; 5 grandchildren and another on the way; as well as numerous extended family members and friends. The family would like for you to join them for a time of visitation at Carter-Conley Funeral Home on Friday, January 29, 2021 from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Funeral services will immediately follow at 5:00 P.M.
