John Cooper Pigg, age 79, of Amelia, Va., passed from this life on January 18, 2021.  He is preceded in death by his wife; Carol Dorsett Pigg, his parents; John Roy Pigg and Frances Lucille Pigg, his daughter; Dawn Marie Barbara and his sister, Emily Townsend.  He is survived by his sisters; Carolyn Shelton and Gladys Jackson both of Tennessee and his grandson; James Harrison of Maryland.  He also leaves behind his close friend Judith Spivey.  John was a US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War and a lifetime member of the Sons of Confederate War Veterans.   He will lie in state at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home 16409 Court St. in Amelia, Va. on Friday from 11AM to 5PM and on Saturday from 12 Noon to 3PM.   Following services in Amelia John will be buried in Tennessee in the family cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Amelia Rescue Squad.
