JoAnn Goodheart Obituary

JoAnn (Dutts) Goodheart of Grosse Pointe Farms passed away January 15, 2021 at the age of 65.  JoAnn was born to the late Joseph and Eileen Dutts.  She attended elementary school at St. Joan of Arc and graduated in 1973 from South Lake High School both in St. Clair Shores.  She went on to attend the Medical Assistant Program at the Carnegie Institute of Detroit.  Around 1975 JoAnn became a patient at the Goodheart & Associates, PC chiropractic office in Detroit and subsequently began working there as a medical assistant. She and Dr. George Goodheart, Jr. fell in love and were married on November 25, 1977.  They continued to work together for over 20 years.  They had a deep love for each other and an amazing life.  They traveled the world together teaching and demonstrating in the technique of Applied Kinesiology.  Through their travels with the International College of Applied Kinesiology (ICAK), they met and developed life long friendships.  JoAnn will be missed by her Chiropractic family all over the world as well as her family and life-long friends. JoAnn loved to cook and was a consummate hostess.  She prepared many gourmet meals for family, friends and business associates at their home in Grosse Pointe Farms.   She inspired many to explore the art of cooking and had a very large collection of cook books.  JoAnn enjoyed reading romance novels along with spending time at the beach or pool swimming, laying in the sun or floating around on her raft.  She was also an avid fan of “I Love Lucy” frequently watching reruns.  She took up water color painting later in life and also loved soap operas, crossword puzzles, and word searches.   Her biggest love, however, was her husband George.  JoAnn is preceded in death by her husband Dr. George Goodheart Jr., brother Thomas Dutts, father Joseph Dutts and mother Eileen (Maher) Dutts. She is survived by her siblings Michael (Anne) Dutts, Sally (Kent) Rozycki, and Colleen (John) Ryan; nephews Thomas (Deanna) Dutts, Andrew Rozycki, Ryan Rozycki, Michael (Kate) Rozycki, Thomas Ryan; niece Keri Ryan; and great nephews and niece Nolan, Casey and Ryan Dutts. A funeral mass will take place at a future date.
