Anita L'Etoile Obituary

Anita (Jalette) L’Etoile 100, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2021 at the Friendly Nursing Home. She was born on Nov. 9, 1920 in Woonsocket and was the daughter of the late Arthur and Loretta (Forcier) Jalette. Anita was the beloved wife of the late Leon (Tom) L’Etoile and they were married for 60 years before his passing in 2001. Anita worked for 22 years as a cashier at the former A & P Supermarket in Woonsocket and she also worked for 10 years as a stitcher at Narragansett Knitting Mills. Anita was also Past president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Woonsocket and of the VFW Auxiliary district 1. She belonged to Christian Group, St. Louis Sr. Club, St Joseph and St. Agatha’s Senior Club. Anita loved to read and she also made Raggety Ann dolls and made baby blankets for Project Linus. Tom and Anita loved to travel and go camping, but most of all, they loved to spend time with the family. She is survived by her four daughters, Gloria Descoteaux (Paul), Elizabeth Legare (Roland) of North Smithfield, Jeanne Rioux of Woonsocket and Suzanne Carr (Dennis) of North Scituate. Seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and seven great greatgrandchildren. One sister, Claire Phaneuf (Rene) of North Smithfield, Roger Jalette (Janet) of Woonsocket and Arthur Jalette (Solange) of North Smithfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also the sister of the late, Henry Jalette, Lena Belisle, Lionel Jalette, Loretta (D’Orazio,) Brunelle, Norman and Beatrice Jalette. The family wishes to thank the staff, the nurses and the cnas’ of the Friendly Nursing home for the wonderful and compassionate care that they gave our mother. Arrangement are private and under the direction of Edigio Dipardo & Sons Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Anita L’Etoile may be sent to Friendly Nursing Home, Activities Department, 303 Rhodes Avenue, Woonsocket, RI 02895 Due to the pandemic restrictions, a Memorial Mass will be planned for the spring of 2021.
