Judith Sides Middleton Obituary

Judith Sides Middleton, 79, passed away Sunday January 17, 2021 at Salemtowne Retirement Community in Winston-Salem. She was the loving wife of John W. Middleton, whom she married on December 23, 1960. Judy was born on October 12, 1941 in Forsyth County to the late Eugene and Dorothy Sides. She graduated from Reynolds High School in 1960. She was a lifetime member of Calvary Moravian Church, where she served as a Diener for Easter and Christmas lovefeasts and worked in the kitchen making Moravian Chicken Pies. Judy's family was very important to her and she dedicated her life to raising and caring for them. She was also known for her bright and positive attitude and pleasant smile. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Anna M. Fishburne; two brothers, Charles E. Sides and Joseph S. Sides. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, John W. Middleton; one child: Angie M. Rhyne (Jeff); three grandchildren: Andrew F. McBryde, Ashley R. Hayes (Matt), Allison L. Fishburne; two great-grandchildren: Russell and Graham Hayes; two sisters: Susan Troutwine and Dottie Nixa. A private graveside service will be held for family at Salem Moravian Graveyard with Rt. Rev. Lane Sapp and Rev. Linda Browne officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects at Salem Funeral Main Street on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 from 10:00am to 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be directed to Calvary Moravian Church, 600 Holly Ave., NW, Winston-Salem, NC 27101. Condolences may be made online at www.salemfh.com.
