Bertha Lois Buell Obituary

Lois Haley was born as a twin in Goin, Tennessee on July 27, 1929 from the union of William and Easter (Williams) Haley. She was one of three siblings. Being a twin to her sister Loda, they were inseparable growing up. Lois later moved to Monroe, Michigan and attended Monroe Public Schools. She met the love of her life, Frank, and they married on January 27, 1947 in Monroe, by Reverend EE Patterson. The love story on how they met has been shared with the different family generations throughout the years. Frank knew when he laid eyes on Lois at the movie theatre that it was love at first site, and it truly was. Together, the couple had two children: a boy and a girl. After working for 27 years at Modern Packaging, formerly known as River Raisin Paper, Lois retired in 1993. Lois attended Monroe Missionary Baptist Church, where she was also a member of the Deacon’s Wives Ministry. Lois loved the Lord, was strong in her faith and had the heart of a servant. Born with a nurturing heart, she was known to care for and nurse the sick back to good health. Her heart was full of love for her children and grandchildren. She would give anything she had, rather than see them go without. Lois Buell passed away at 6:20pm on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at ProMedica Monroe Skilled Nursing & Rehab. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband: Frank; twin sister: Loda Buell and her niece; Pamela “Penny” Buell. To cherish her memory, she leaves her son: Timothy F. "Tim" (Cindy) Buell of LaSalle; daughter: Sheila Buell of Gulfport, Florida; four grandchildren: Tracie Calfee of Gulfport, Leslie (Jeremy) Zenz of Toledo, Brandon Harris of Ida, and Kaleb T. Buell (Kimberly Buell, Mother of Kaleb) of LaSalle; two great grandchildren: Madison Jones and Peyton Zenz; a sister: Bea McBee and a brother: Carl Braden.
