Harlan Rex Dempsey, 72 of Louisville, Kentucky passed away January 18th, 2021 at his home. He was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas on September 22nd, 1948 to the late Ella and James Dempsey. Harlan worked in construction as a handyman. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a Baptist. Harlan loved music and writing music was his passion. He was a caring, family man who loved children. He always enjoyed making people laugh and joking with everyone. Harlan loved watching the Chicago Bears and was a fan of Muhammad Ali. Harlan is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Joe Dempsey and John Dempsey and a sister, Jan Dempsey. He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Vince Dempsey; daughters, Veronica (Kelly) Carrier, Valerie (Michael) Garrett and Jody (Blaine Cooney) Dempsey; 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; sister, Hallie Moffitt and dear friend, Brenda Doan. Spring Valley Funeral Home is honored to be of service to the Dempsey family.
