Mary Watkins Johnson

Mary Watkins Johnson, age 76 of Jackson, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center in Hazard, Kentucky. Mary was born on February 29, 1944 to the late Matt and Laura Harris Watkins. She was a homemaker and former CNA. She is survived by two daughters, Darlene (Terry) Moore of Jackson, Kentucky and Valerie (Jose) Ortiz of Jackson, Kentucky; one son, Anthony Watkins of Jackson, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Ashley (James) Smith of Murray, Kentucky, Laura (Steven) Cain of Elsmere, Kentucky, Sarah Ortiz of Jackson, Kentucky, Tamitha Ortiz of Jackson, Kentucky, and Matthew Moore of Jackson, Kentucky; four great grandchildren, Jack Smith, Ian Smith, Shawn Cain, and Aria Cain; three sisters, Gloria Caudill, Linda Poe, and Nada Taylor; special nieces and nephews who knew her as granny, Angie Brewer Consiglio, Jeremy Bo Brewer, Jessie Brewer, and Greg Daniel Watkins; special friends, Wanda Gross and Linda Gross; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Matt and Laura Harris Watkins, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Johnson, five brothers, Eugene Watkins, Herbert Watkins, Matt Jr. Watkins, Virgil Watkins, and Harold Watkins, and one sister, Mollie Watkins. Funeral services will be conducted at the Watts Funeral Home Chapel in Jackson, Kentucky at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 21, 2021 with Mike Spencer and Steve Kilburn officiating. Mary will be laid to rest in the Watkins Family Cemetery at Lower Twin (Bean Fork Road) at Athol, Kentucky. Friends may visit the funeral at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, January 20, 2021.
