Nora Mae Pridgen

Mrs. Nora Mae Beamon Pridgen, age 93, passed away Sunday morning, January 17, 2021 at Lenoir UNC Hospital. A native of Greene County, she was born February 12, 1927 the daughter of John Edward and Clyde Suggs Beamon. A consummate homemaker, she worked beside her late husband, Burnice, tending the farm and cherished her roles as wife, mother and grandmother. As recently as this past year she tended a vegetable garden and enjoyed cooking and canning what it produced for her family and others. Never one to be idle she relished going on trips, especially shopping, and spending time with her sisters. Mrs. Pridgen was a longtime and an active member of Rainbow United Methodist Church where she had been a part of many of the church ministries and activities. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Burnice Lee Pridgen; daughter, Barbara Pridgen Price; brothers, George Edward ‘Tommy” Beamon and Chester Beaman; and sister, Myrtle McCloud. Her surviving family includes her sons, Arthur Pridgen and wife, Elaine of Snow Hill, and Jeffrey Lynn Pridgen and wife, Leigh of Nolensville, TN; grandchildren, Lee Garner (Sherry), Bryan Garner, Jason Garner, Jamie Pridgen (Hope), Kim P. Jackson (Scott), Courtney Pridgen and Sam Pridgen; 13 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Clara B. Pridgen of Snow Hill, Etheleen B. Jones of Maury, Janie B. Ginn of Florida, and Eleanor B. Carraway of Ayden; and brothers, Donald Beaman (Garnie) of Snow Hill and William A. “Pete” Beamon (Judy) of Maury. Funeral services will be held graveside 2 PM Tuesday, January 19th, at the Rainbow Cemetery with Reverend Tyler Moore officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Due to COVID, masks are requested to be worn and social distancing appropriately observed. Mrs. Pridgen will lie-in-state at Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service on Monday from 11 AM – 5 PM and Tuesday from 8 AM – 12 PM. Flowers are welcome or memorials are encouraged to the Rainbow Cemetery Fund, c/o Arthur Pridgen, 256 Thomas Sugg Road, Snow Hill, NC 28580. Online condolences at www.taylor-tyson.com
