Mr. Dennis Lee Stanley was born August 29, 1955 in Newport News, VA to the late Mildred Stanley. He was raised by the late William and Mary Stanley, his grandparents, where at an early age, they placed his name on the roll of the United House of Prayer for All People.  He departed this life, surrounded by his family, on Friday, January 15, 2021.

He learned his carpentry skills from his grandfather (Papa), where his love for painting began.  Painting was dear to Dennis; he did it with ease and compassion and took pride in his work.  Dennis was very meticulous; he always cleaned his work areas no spots left.  He was employed by Evia Paint Co, Inc. of Yorktown, VA for over 17 years. In 2013 Dennis ambition motivated him to start his own business, Stanley Painting.

Dennis had a love for gospel music.  He especially loved the sound of gospel quartets.  However, nothing warmed his heart more than watching and listening to his younger brother, Charles, performing his music.  He also enjoyed spending time with his family, taking care of his trucks, and watching his Dallas Cowboys play on Sunday afternoons.

We will miss you Dennis, but we know that your spirit will live on in us, as well as in all the lives you’ve touched.

He leaves to cherish his memory four sisters, Shirley Horton of Camp Springs, MD; Muriel Barner (husband Lorenzo); Deborah Stanley (his twin), both of Newport News, VA; and Barbra Stanley of Hampton, VA.  Two brothers, Charles Stanley (wife Felicia) and Steven Davis of Newport News, VA.  Seven nieces, Lolita, Shannon, Sharmaine, Stephanie, Madison, Tiffany and Tanesha.  Eight nephews, Lorenzo II, Renaldo, Kevin, Keith, Michael, Quinza, Qwest, and Mason.  Three great nieces, seven great nephews, a host of cousins, and friends.

 

A walk through viewing for Mr. Stanley will be held from 1:00p.m. until 5:00p.m. Thursday, January 21, 2021 at C.C. Carter Funeral Home. Inc. 

 

A Celebration of Life for Mr.  Dennis Lee Stanley will be held noon Friday, January, 22, 2021 at The United House of Prayer for All People 1811 Ivy Ave. Newport News, VA 23607. by Elder Lorenzo Barner, Officiating. The Honorable, C.M. Bailey, Bishop           

 

 

Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
