Robert "Bob" Joseph Weis

Robert “Bob” Joseph Weis, 72, of Hoxie, Kansas passed away surrounded by his loved ones Friday, January 15, 2021, at the Sheridan County Long Term Care in Hoxie after a brave battle with cancer. He was born in Colby, Kansas, January 29, 1948 to Raymond and Germaine (Kruse) Weis the third of nine children. He grew up on the farm and attended Leoville Grade and High School graduating with the class of 1965. After high school, he attended Northwest Kansas Technical School where he earned a certificate as a Diesel Mechanic. Following his graduation from Technical School, he entered the United States Army. After serving his country, Bob met the love of his life Verna “Jane” Hake. They were married May 20, 1972, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Colby, Kansas. They moved to Hoxie where they have made their home for forty-nine years and raised their three children Chris, Melissa and Dennis. Bob worked for Tebo Implement for a short while before going to Taylor Implement where he spent most of his career as a Diesel Mechanic retiring seven years ago. He did work for Archie Moss helping with farming as well as helping his brother with harvest. Bob worked hard, but when he could he enjoyed hunting, fishing and tinkering in his garage. He especially liked pheasant hunting with his son, Dennis. Camping and traveling with his Jane and the family was one of his most favorite activities. Bob and Jane had the opportunity to travel and visit many interesting places. Top of the list for Bob was to be with and spend time with his loving wife and soulmate, Jane. Bob is survived by his wife, Jane of Hoxie, Kansas; son, Dennis Weis (Tami) of Parker, Colorado; daughters, Chris Breinig (Steve) of Hays, Kansas and Melissa Weis (Cindy) of DeLeon, Texas; mother, Germaine Weis of Colby, Kansas; brothers, Norbert Weis of Hoxie, Kansas and Frank Weis (Ester) of Akron, Colorado; sisters, Dolores Mauck (Roger) of Hoxie, Kansas, Jane Fleming (Jim) of Lindsborg, Kansas, Joan Long (Carl) of Missouri, Jean Cech (Joe) of Goodland, Kansas, and Rose Weis of Round Rock, Texas; and grandchildren, Jordan Breinig and Riley Weis. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Weis, brother, Steve Weis; and granddaughter, Alyssa Haddock. A Celebration of Life Service is planned for Saturday, February 6, 2021, 10:30 A.M. at the Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home, Hoxie, Kansas. A Visitation and Vigil/Rosary Service will be held on Friday, February 5, 2021, with the visitation from 1:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., and Vigil/Rosary starting at 7:00 P.M. all at the Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home, Hoxie, Kansas.
