Betty Marie Drobac, 91 of Des Moines, Iowa passed away in Hospice care surrounded by her family on January 1, 2021 New Year’s Day. She was born in Boyden Iowa, the daughter of Gus and Minnie Stegeman and sister to Arnold and Lois. She graduated a Valedictorian, the Class of 1947 from Boyden Hull High School and moved to Des Moines, Iowa in 1948 to attend Americana School of Beauty. She met her loving husband Mark and they were married for 45 years. Betty and Mark had two children Donna and Daniel. Betty was employed at Northwestern Bell as an office clerk and the Bavarian Inn for many years as an accounting supervisor. She had 13 years of service with the Iowa Department of Revenue as a seasonal clerk where she proudly retired at the age of 82. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, granddaughters, great grandson, her pets, gardening, reading, Country and Polka music. Betty is preceded in death by her husband Mark Drobac, father Gus Stegeman, mother Wilhelmina (Minnie) Stegeman, infant brother Glenn, brother Arnold Stegeman and Sister Lois (Glenn) Somers. She is survived by her daughter Donna Rieck of Des Moines Iowa, son Daniel Drobac (Michelle McCown) of Nashville Tennessee, granddaughter Amanda (Tyler) Wolf of Creston, great grandson Jack Ryan Wolf, granddaughter Danielle Rieck of West Des Moines, step grandson Seth Rieck of Golden, Colorado and sister in law Maxine Stegeman. The family is planning a graveside service at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines, Iowa at a later date. Memorials can be made to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
