Lola Irene McCleskey Obituary

Lola Irene McCleskey (Majors), age 91, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2021 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette, Colorado. She was born on March 26 1929 in Fairfield, Illinois to Laverl and Beulah (Harris) Majors. She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1947 then received an Associates Degree in Graphic Arts in her early 50’s from Front Range Community College. After high school Lola moved to Colorado, where she met and married Charles McCleskey on May 8, 1959 in Denver, and they remained married for over 40 years

. Lola held various jobs throughout her life. She worked at Fisher Auto Parts in Brighton, for over ten years. She also enjoyed working at the Brighton Senior Center and as a secretary at First Baptist Church for six years. But the job Lola loved doing the most, was being a homemaker for her family, where she would keep up on chores and helped raise her beautiful family. Lola had a wide variety of interests, she enjoyed painting, baking, sewing, crocheting, arts & crafts, she especially loved any kind of gardening. Lola also enjoyed doing sudoku puzzles to keep her mind sharp, and treasured playing bingo with her friends anytime she had the opportunity. She was a kind and caring woman, and loved to tend to and take care of others and was constantly putting others well being before her own. Lola was a great friend, family member, Mother and wife and will be deeply missed by all of those who knew her.

Lola is survived by three of her children; Ronald (Leanna) Schweizer of Livingston, TX, Dennis (Lelanie) McCleskey of Brighton, CO and Judy Snyder of Erie, CO. She is also survived by one sibling, Nadine Beach of Thornton, CO. She has 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by both parents, Laverl and Beulah (Harris) Majors, her husband Charles McCleskey, two of her children, Howard and Delbert Schweizer, two siblings, Lelah Headly and Ivan Majors, and one grandchild, Luke Snyder.
