John "Tom" Thomas Peters

<p>ZANESVILLE</p> <p>John Thomas &ldquo;Tom&rdquo; Peters, 96, of Zanesville passed from this life on January 11, 2021, at Brookdale Assisted Living. Tom was born in Cambridge, Ohio on February 29, 1924 to Kenneth Work Peters and Margaret Elizabeth (Kiddie) Peters. Tom was a graduate of Zanesville Lash High School. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the United States Army as a Technician 5TH Grade with Battery A 15TH Field Artillery Observation Battalion in Italy. After an honorable discharge he attended Ohio University before working at Armco Steel in the Timekeeping Department from where he retired after thirty years. After retirement he kept busy with various other jobs and spent over twenty years as a substitute teacher serving in all the school systems in Muskingum County. He also served on the local bus board for over twenty years and was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church.</p> <p>Tom in preceded in death by his parents and wife of sixty-seven years, Norma Eileen (Mizer) Peters; and his sister Sara (Peters) Ansel.</p> <p>He is survived by his three sons: William Thomas (Pam) Peters, Kevin Lee Peters and Michael Alan (Carrie Montgomery) Peters; five grandchildren: Beth Ann Loebick, Amy Catherine (Shane) Cargal, Jason Lee (Theresa) Peters, Christopher Thomas (Monica) Peters and Brian Matthew Peters; and thirteen great grandchildren.</p> <p>Due to the current health situation, there will be no calling hours or service. Interment will be at Zanesville Memorial Park.</p> <p>THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 W.
