Erwin "Bill" Parmelee

Erwin William (Bill) Parmelee, 76, of Cookeville, TN, son of the late Harold & Alice (Stacey) Parmelee, Haddam, CT, passed away on Sunday January 10, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center, TN. He was born on July 7, 1944 in Middletown, CT and graduated from Middletown High School in 1962. He then graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College with a bachelor’s degree in education and then University of Bridgeport Master's program for education. He taught at Old Saybrook schools from 1976 to 1985. He then moved to Cookeville, TN and purchased the Star Motor Inn. Bill is survived by his brothers, Harold J. (Sylvia) Parmelee, Bloomfield; Charles (Carolyn) Parmelee, Higganum. He is survived by his nieces & nephews; Elaine (Parmelee) Jackson, Ellen (Parmelee) McKay, Harold L. Parmelee, Andrea (Parmelee) Shotwell, Adam Bryant, Alex Bryant, along with many other family members and friends. David Stephens, Sherri Abston, and the Star Motor Inn staff are the family that took wonderful care of him in TN. He is predeceased by his sister, Donna (Parmelee) Bryant. Graveside services were held at Haddam Cemetery, Rte. 154 (Saybrook Road), Haddam, on Saturday (Jan. 16th) at 10:30 a.m. A Celebration of Life will be held this summer. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Cookeville/Putnam County Animal Shelter, 2650 Gainesboro Grade, Cookeville, TN 38501. Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
