MARY ESTHER McCABE Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Esther McCabe (77, of Syracuse) advises of her passing May 30. For much of her life, Mary Esther lived in the family home in Lyncourt. In her later years, she joined the Lancaster residential community of AccessCNY, an agency empowering persons of all abilities to reach their full potential. Mary Esther enjoyed travel, fine dining, and the theater and was an avid fan of the Syracuse Chiefs and New York Yankees. She served as an example that determination, persistence, and a positive attitude can overcome virtually any adversity. Mary Esther is preceded in rest by her parents, Mary E. and William A. McCabe and survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen A. and Richard E. Schneider (Pulaski), brother Andrew W. McCabe (Brooklyn) and brother and brother-in law, Matthew T. McCabe and Charles R. Wilson (San Francisco), as well as niece Mary K. Ferry (Mexico) and grand-niece Lily Schneider (Fulton). She also shared in the love of a large extended family, including Mary Talbo (Marion), Olga S. Barrera, Nanette L. Miller, and Eleanore R. Samarzes (San Francisco), Richard L. Meiss and Peter W. Rudy (Berkeley), Kevin J. Harty and Richard Tempone (Philadelphia), as well as many others. For many years, she was a congregant of St. John the Baptist Church (Syracuse) and celebrated with the parishioners of Most Holy Redeemer (San Francisco). Mary Esther will be remembered in several intimate services and interred alongside her parents at the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff of AccessCNY, particularly David Holmes and Shannon Travor, for their years of service, professionalism, and affectionate care. In lieu of other remembrances, the family suggests memorial donations to AccessCNY (www.accesscny.org) or Arc of Onondaga (www.arcon.org). **Please visit www.syracuse.com/obits to sign the Guestbook or leave a condolence message.**
