James L. "Jim" Kauffman

James L. “Jim” Kauffman, 57, of Springfield, died on Tuesday, January 12, 2021. He was born on August 12, 1963 in Springfield, the son of William Jr. and Ruth (Looby) Kauffman. Jim graduated from Springfield High in 1982. He retired from the State of Illinois Senate. Jim enjoyed politics, camping, and hunting. He had a quick wit, great sense of humor and was very kind-hearted. He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Joseph Kauffman. Jim is survived by his sisters, Kathleen (Steve) Smith of Springfield and Mary (Tim) Smith of Jacksonville, IL; brothers, Joseph (Patti) and John (Jamie) Kauffman, both of Springfield; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. Visitation and Funeral Mass: The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos Ave, Springfield. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Very Rev. Daniel Bergbower, V.F., celebrant. Due to COVID restrictions there will be limited capacity and face coverings will be required.
