Born May 3, 1938 she was the youngest of four children to O.E. and Lucy (Ferguson) Stewart in Liman, CO. Bobbie attended Simla Public Schools and graduated from Simla High School. She married her high school sweetheart Leon Michel on April 21, 1958 and soon after they moved to Denver where they began their family. In 1970, the young couple decided the city life was not for them so they moved their growing family to Bridgeport, NE and purchased what was to become Bridgeport Processing, Inc. Bobbie used the skills she learned working in her mother’s restaurant while growing up to help build a successful business alongside Leon for 26 years. After retirement she was able to occasionally pursue her lifetime love of cooking to assist her niece at “Sweet Things” bakery. Bobbie supported and participated in many community activities throughout the years to include Brownie and Girl Scouts, Jaycees, Bowling League, and many Camp Clarke parades, games, and plays. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and helped with the food pantry, clothing closet, fill-in secretary, and numerous funeral and harvest dinners. Bobbie’s interests included sewing, crocheting, and crafts of many kinds. Most of all she enjoyed baking sweets of all kinds, her specialty being pies. She loved to spend time with friends and family particularly at Christmas time. Christmas wasn’t a holiday for Bobbie, she turned it into a season all it’s own. Although Bobbie wore many hats and had many interests over the years, her role as Grandma was the one she cherished the most. Bobbie is survived by her husband Leon; son Allen (Shirley); daughters Vicki, Kandi (Dwayne); grandchildren Nikki, Jessica, Matthew, Ashlee, Keegan; great-grandchild Nyla; sister-in-law Nancy Michel, brother-in-law Kenny Hertnecky, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Bill, sisters Evelyn and Betty, and an infant son.
