Arthur R. Baca, Sr.

<p>Arthur R. Baca, Sr., passed away January 4, 2021 in Rio Rancho, NM.&nbsp; He was born August 19, 1940 in Escondido, New Mexico to Horacio and Rebecca V. Baca.&nbsp; He served honorably in the United States Army from 1959 &ndash; 1966, as a SP5.&nbsp; He married the love of his life, Andrea &ldquo;Andi&rdquo; Quintela, in Loving, NM, June 21, 1969.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>Art retired from the United States Postal Service with 25 years of service.&nbsp; He loved spending time with his family and friends&nbsp;and giving of his time to the youth in the community through the programs he participated in which included coaching YAFL Football for 20 years, and teaching the young men at The American Legion New Mexico Boys State program about the rights, privileges and responsibilities of a franchised citizenship.&nbsp; He was also a photographer for The American Legion Department of New Mexico Baseball and Boys State programs.&nbsp; Art was a paid up for life member of The American Legion Post 118 and a member of&nbsp;VFW and Sons of the American Legion in Rio Rancho.&nbsp;</p> <p>He was preceded in death by his parents, Horacio and Rebecca Baca; brothers, Horacio S. Baca, Jr., Adam Baca; sisters, Eloisa Wisniewiski, Paublita Berry, Eva Provo(half-sister); and grandson, Dustin Good.</p> <p>Art is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Andi ; sister Ruth Aragon of Albuquerque, NM; sons, Horacio &quot;James&quot; S. and wife Carla Baca of Indianapolis, Indiana, Arthur R. Baca, Jr. of Rio Rancho, NM; daughter, Rosenda and husband Eric Minella of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Sharlena and husband Chad Armand who are children of Horacio and Carla Baca, Jacob, Andrew and Evan Minella and Andrea, Ashley and Adriana &ldquo;AJ&rdquo; Naranjo who are children of Rosenda and Eric Minella; great-grandchildren, Jaydaa and Juliana Good, Amelia and Alexander Armand and Catalina daughter of Ashley.&nbsp;</p> <p>Due to Covid 19, the family wants to honor Art and his love of country at a time when more may be able to gather on June 21, 2021.</p> <p>The family of Arthur R Baca Sr.,&nbsp;appreciates the outpouring of love, calls and prayers from all the family, friends and their American Legion family.&nbsp; It has been most comforting and greatly appreciated.</p> <p>Memorial donations may be made to the American Legion New Mexico Boys State program in lieu of flowers.</p>

Obituary

Arthur R. Baca, Sr., passed away January 4, 2021 in Rio Rancho, NM.  He was born August 19, 1940 in Escondido, New Mexico to Horacio and Rebecca V. Baca.  He served honorably in the United States Army from 1959 – 1966, as a SP5.  He married the love of his life, Andrea “Andi” Quintela, in Loving, NM, June 21, 1969.  

Art retired from the United States Postal Service with 25 years of service.  He loved spending time with his family and friends and giving of his time to the youth in the community through the programs he participated in which included coaching YAFL Football for 20 years, and teaching the young men at The American Legion New Mexico Boys State program about the rights, privileges and responsibilities of a franchised citizenship.  He was also a photographer for The American Legion Department of New Mexico Baseball and Boys State programs.  Art was a paid up for life member of The American Legion Post 118 and a member of VFW and Sons of the American Legion in Rio Rancho. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Horacio and Rebecca Baca; brothers, Horacio S. Baca, Jr., Adam Baca; sisters, Eloisa Wisniewiski, Paublita Berry, Eva Provo(half-sister); and grandson, Dustin Good.

Art is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Andi ; sister Ruth Aragon of Albuquerque, NM; sons, Horacio "James" S. and wife Carla Baca of Indianapolis, Indiana, Arthur R. Baca, Jr. of Rio Rancho, NM; daughter, Rosenda and husband Eric Minella of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Sharlena and husband Chad Armand who are children of Horacio and Carla Baca, Jacob, Andrew and Evan Minella and Andrea, Ashley and Adriana “AJ” Naranjo who are children of Rosenda and Eric Minella; great-grandchildren, Jaydaa and Juliana Good, Amelia and Alexander Armand and Catalina daughter of Ashley.
