Carol Myrth Peterson-Spitler
<p>Former resident, Carol Peterson-Spitler, 87, passed away at her home in Powell, WY, Saturday, January 9, 2021 after a recent illness.</p> <p>Born July 28, 1933 in Greybull, Wyoming, she was one of four children of Chuck and Ardella (Robison) Negro. </p> <p>In 1953 she married John R. Peterson in Lovell, WY. To this union was born two children, Richard and Tracy. The couple moved to Thermopolis in the 1960’s where Carol was employed by IGA, JC Penny and H.S. County School District #1. John died in 1993. In February, 1994 she married Jim Spitler in Las Vegas where they remained until Jim’s death in 2006. Carol moved to Powell in 2018.</p> <p>A member of JC Janes, VFW Auxiliary, Petroleum Wives and several Bridge clubs, she was a Master Bridge player, enjoyed pinochle, Bingo and Las Vegas was her town!</p> <p>Those cherishing her memory are her children, Richard (Grace) Peterson and daughter, Tracy Matthews, all of Powell and stepson, Chris Spitler of Colon, MI,; brothers, Bob (Carol) Negro of Sheridan, Don Negro of Texas, and sister, Donna Sessions of Casper, and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and both husbands, John of 40 years and Jim of 12 years.</p> <p>Private graveside services were held Wednesday, January 13, at Monument Hill Cemetery where she was interred next to her first husband, John.</p> <p>Donations may be made to Diabetes and Cancer organizations or to animal causes as Carol loved animals and donated to such.</p> <p>Mortimore Funeral Home is assisting the family.
