Richard Herman Brownsberger Obituary

     Richard Hermann “R.H.” Brownsberger, 86, Nevada, MO passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at his home in Nevada. R.H. was born July 26, 1934 in Blackwell, OK to Maurice and Allene (Smith) Brownsberger.  He married Evelyn M. Heiman in 1953 and she preceded him in death on april 23, 1978. On December 31, 1981 he married Marilyn (Hensley) Coonrod and she survives of the home.

     R.H. was raised in the Ballard area in Bates County and attended Ballard High School graduating in 1951. He farmed and raised livestock most of his life. In the 70’s and 80’s he was owner and operator of a trucking company, Brownsberger Enterprises. For the last 20 years of his career, he operated H & R Auto Sales in Nevada, buying and selling cars. R.H. was a racing fan and loved going to car races. He also enjoyed getaways to his lake house. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

     In addition to his wife, Marilyn, he is survived by one son, Herb Brownsberger (Michelle), Butler, MO, and one step-son, Jeff Coonrod (Lori), Nevada, MO; grandchildren, Richard Brownsberger, Evelyn “Evie” Brownsberger, Kristy Churchill (Scott), Jennifer Brownsberger, Tracy Brownsberger, Ashley Powell (Brent), Erica Hough (Jeremy), Dylan Coonrod, Marli Walker (Ben), Lani Coonrod; several great-grandchildren; his dear friend of 70+ years whom he spoke to every day, Raymond Rotert, Montrose; and his dog and companion “Bella”. In addition to his first wife Evelyn, he was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Rick Brownsberger, and Richard Brownsberger.

     A “private family” Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 with Father Peter Savidge officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park. Friends may call until 7:00 p.m. on Monday evening at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.

    Memorials are suggested in his memory to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Heartland Hospice c/o Ferry Funeral Home.
