Scott Francis Vanskike Obituary

Scott Francis Vanskike, 48, of Nevada, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at his home following a brief illness. He was born February 17, 1972 in San Francisco, California to Walter L. and Marsha A. (Vernarecci) Vanskike. On July 28, 2000 Scott married Marqui D. Cook in Redmond, Oregon and she survives of the home.

Scott grew up in Ronert Park, California and attended school there. He continued his education in Oregon, where he lived and worked until 2007, and pursued a career as a truck driver. In 2007, Scott moved to Nevada where he worked for McInroy Construction for several years and has worked at 3M for the past seven years. Scott lost his father in 1999, the  same year he changed the lives of the Cook family with his infectious smile, kindness and love, he not only gained a wife on July 28, 2000, he gained an entire family. He was a gentle giant, "AKA" the Baby Whisperer". He loved his children and grandchildren , but his love didn't stop there. Scott had room in his heart for all his nieces and nephews and many lifelong friends including Josh Burns. His family isn't done growing and we know he will be watching from above. An earthly life cut short, his spirit lives on for eternity. He is "flying with the angels".

In addition to his wife, Marqui, survivors include five children: Christopher Baily of Nevada, Heather Beason (Donald) of Sheldon, Missouri, Mariah Vanskike of Nevada, Walter Vanskike of Nevada, and Tylor Vanskike of Nevada; two grandchildren, Caliber Beason and Luretta Beason; one sister, Stacy Vanskike of Pennsylvania; one nephew, Troy Bridgeman of Oregon; one uncle, Bruce Vernarecci (Cindy) and their children Molly and Sarah of Oregon. Scott was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 11,2021 at the Church of Jesus Christ and Later Day Saints in Nevada at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
