Live streaming services on YouTube Live Shirley Mae Braden, 82, passed from this life on January 1, 2021, in Drumright Nursing Home. Shirley was born on June 3, 1938, at Keystone, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Jerry Samuel and Bernice (Almy) Garrison. Shirley grew up and attended school in Keystone where she received her education. Following her education Shirley began working at Southwestern Bell in Cleveland also worked as a waitress. In 1979, Shirley began working at Conner Correctional Facility. Shirley transferred to Tulsa County Correctional and Horrace Mann Halfway House when she retired in 1994. Upon her retirement, Shirley gained employment with Avalon Correctional Facility. She was instrumental in the construction of the facility and later served as the Warden for several years. After retirement, Shirley started traveling with Norma and Dorothy to numerous locations, never knowing where the adventure might lead. Shirley also worked out of her home doing nails for her friends. She enjoyed making quilts and afghans. Shirley entered several of them in the Pawnee and Tulsa County Fairs. She brought home several awards and ribbons for her creations. Shirley was a member of the Eastern Star Lodge #446 in Mannford since 1960. She was also a member of the Keystone Friendship Club and Cleveland Happy Sewing Club. Survivors include her son Howard E. Braden, Jr. of Mannford, Oklahoma, daughter Kelli Scarbrough of Owasso, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren Nick Braden of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Daniel Braden of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Doug Funston of Owasso, Oklahoma, Cameron Funston of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Logan Funston of Owasso, Oklahoma, Ethan and Riley Scarbrough both of Owasso, Oklahoma; seven great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Jane Ann Braden, brother Earl Garrison, sister Wilma Chronic Services will be held 2:00 pm, Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery. Chapman-Black Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.
