J.B. Overstreet
<p>On December 18, 2020, we lost the lynchpin of our family. JB Overstreet, “Dad” passed at CRMC in Fresno of Covid-19, which resulted in a fall at home.<br /> <br /> Born the 6th son of Jim and Effie Overstreet on September 26, 1922 in Cowlington, Oklahoma. His family moved to California in 1936. He attended Fairmead School and Chowchilla High School. Dad had charm and a great work ethic Even at the in the midst of the Depression he found work in sales and service.<br /> <br /> In December of 1943, he married my mother Alice Ecker. He joined the Army the following January and departed for Europe. Discharged in 1946 he returned to Madera to build his family. They had a daughter Linda and son Jamie {who passed as a newborn} another son Jerry Overstreet joined the family in 1953<br /> <br /> Mother passed away in 84, Dad married Camille Overstreet {Baldrica} in Nov of 1985.<br /> <br /> Dad was a retail businessman. He purchased Ideal Furniture in 1965 and retired in 1983.<br /> <br /> His love of sales was only surpassed by his love for the family ranch. A devoted outdoors man, he loved to hunt, fish and camp. He was happiest with his family, dogs and horses watching cattle graze. He preserved the ranch using the California Rangeland Trust in 2006. He strongly believed in open spaces and the environment.<br /> <br /> Dad collected people. He was interested in different cultures and found friends everywhere he went. He was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and attended St. Joachim Catholic church with Camille.<br /> <br /> The family wishes to thank Leticia Rodriquez, Stephanie Anderson-Boyle, Stephanie Anas, Grace Hernandez, and Karla Gaota for their loving care of dad and Camille.<br /> <br /> He had a long rich life. He and Camille gave great parties and outdoor events for over 30 years<br /> <br /> He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Alice and Jamie.<br /> <br /> He is survived by his wife Camille, daughter Linda, son Jerry, granddaughters and their husbands Jennifer and Dan Poolman, and Nicole and David Crumley, his great grandchildren Donovan Burnes and Riley Crumley gave him great joy.<br /> <br /> If you wish to donate in his name, he chose The National Wildlife Federation, 11100 Wildlife Center Drive, Reston, VA 20190 or any similar organization.<br /> <br /> Services at Jay Chapel on December 29, 2020, at 2:00 P.M., Due to Covid-19 restrictions the service will be outdoors.
