Ray Edward Gilley, 88, of Marietta, Georgia passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 03, 2021. Ray was born in Cedartown, Georgia on September 17, 1932. He served in the United States Air Force and after 20 years retired as a Master Seargant. After leaving the Air Force he worked as a salesman at Sears for 20 years. Ray was known for his integrity and humility. He was a family man who loved the Lord. He enjoyed playing golf and playing pool but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Mr. Gilley was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Betty Gilley and sons, Brian Clifford Gilley and Donald Ray Gilley. He is survived by his daughters, Becky Lynn Curlin and Diane Gilley Inglett; 6 grandchildren, Charist Orr, Jessi Kelly, Kathryn Godfrey, Carl Godfrey, Victoria Vance and Crystal Inglett; 11 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Ray Gilley will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Leaf Cremation and Funeral Home in Acworth, GA. Burial will immediately follow at Mountain View Park Cemetery in Marietta where military honors will be rendered. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, January 5, 2021 from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
