Marvin Mills Obituary

Marvin H. Mills, 93, of Stroudsburg, passed away on December 27, 2020 at Lehigh Valley Pocono Medical Center. Marvin was born October 1, 1927 in The Bronx, where he was raised and where he met the love of his life, Joan. After completing service in the Navy and attending City College in NYC, he and Joan were married in 1950 and enjoyed 66 wonderful years of marriage prior to her passing in 2016. In 1955 Marvin and his young family moved to New Jersey, where they resided in River Vale and several other locations prior to moving to Stroudsburg in 1989. Marvin enjoyed a long career in banking as well as participating in various business and other endeavors, including ownership of the Wine Press Inn in Bartonsville, with Joan and with his dear friend, the late Louis Pirone. Marvin was a smart and outgoing person who made numerous lasting and enduring friendships over the course of his life. We are thankful that he was able to live independently in his own home up until the time of his passing, and are grateful to the ownership and staff of Stroudsmoor Country Inn, where he spent so much pleasurable time over the years. Marvin was always involved in the activities of his three sons as they were growing up, often stepping off the train after a long commute and going straight to whatever activity was on the agenda. Due to the disability of his son Kenneth, he was heavily involved for many years in the organization that is now known as The ARC, including serving as president of the statewide organization in the 1960s. In addition to his wife Joan, Marvin was predeceased by his son, Kenneth in 1984 and by his brother, Daniel in 1990. He is survived by his children, Michael (Catherine), of Howell, NJ and Richard (Denise) of Beachwood, NJ, as well as his grandchildren, Deirdre and Ian. His memory and inspiration will always live on in our hearts. All arrangements are private. If desired, donations in Marvin’s memory may be made to The ARC of New Jersey, 985 Livingston Ave., North Brunswick, NJ or to any other worthy cause of your choosing. Joseph J.
