Alicia Gibbs, 98, of Eldon, Missouri passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2020 at St. Mary's Health Center. She was born on August 11, 1921 in Managua, Nicaragua; a daughter of the late Guillermo and Candita (Morales) Scott. She was united in marriage to Robert H. Gibbs on September 22, 1950 on Howard Air Force Base in Panama. After high school and before marriage Alicia worked as a nurse's aid and her favorite assignment was working in the nursery with the babies. After she and Robert were married, they traveled the world with their family to different air bases where he was stationed. She began her own cleaning business where she prepared base houses for move-out inspections. These inspections are very strict and if you had Alicia prepare your home you could be assured the inspector wouldn't fail the inspection. When her children weren't in school, she had them help her and instilled in them a strong work ethic. Some of her greatest joys were spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and cooking for her family. In her younger years she enjoyed fishing, and was a fitness-activities enthusiast well into her senior years. Her family will miss her spunky personality and presence in their lives. She is survived by her sons: Johnny and David Gibbs; grandchildren: Shanna Christian, Alex Whitten (Lindsey McCollom), Nick Gibbs, Brittany Gibbs, Joshua Gibbs (Bethany), and Kimberly Gibbs and 8 great-grandchildren. Alicia was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years: Robert H. Gibbs; infant son; Alexander Gibbs; son: Robert C. Gibbs and daughter: Cynthia M. Thompson. Private services for the family.
