Reverend John Wilson Currie, 92, of Oriskany, NY, passed away December 10, 2015, at home. He was born April 27, 1923, in Delhi, NY, a son of Robert and Jennie Irene Currie. John graduated Hartwick College in 1954. He then studied at Pittsburgh Xenia Theological Seminary, graduating in 1956. He married Donna Gavett in 1959, in South Kortright. Reverend Currie was Pastor at South Kortright United Presbyterian Church from 1956-1959. He served as Pastor of Waterbury Memorial Presbyterian Church, Oriskany, from 1960-1988. He was also interim Pastor in Vernon and Camden. Rev. Currie was a member of Utica Presbytery, and Waterbury Memorial Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Oriskany Lodge #799 F&AM, Ziyara Temple AAONMS, and the Scottish Rite. He enjoyed keeping in touch with his family, and was an avid reader. He loved to preach, and to play the piano. He is survived by his wife, Donna; their four children, John Currie and his wife Mary Susan of Milton, VT, Elizabeth Zott and her husband Richard of Ballwin, MO, Katherine Graziadei and her husband Carl of Oriskany, and David Currie and his wife Elizabeth of Galway, NY; 11 grandchildren, Jonathan, Jennifer and Meredith Currie, Richard and Michael Zott, Nicole, Christina and Carl Graziadei, Kathleen Landry, and David and Gwenyth Currie; and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a grandson, James Currie; a sister Elizabeth Cole; a brother, James Currie; and his parents Robert and Jennie Irene Currie. Services will be Monday, 11:00 a.m. at Waterbury Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1117 Utica Street, Oriskany. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services.
