Graveside services for Mrs. Elsie Johnston, age 71, of Bastrop will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. C.V. Barker and Rev. Cal Adams officiating. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening from 5 p.m. till 9 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home, Bastrop. Mrs. Johnston was born March 2, 1935 in Lonoke, Arkansas to the late John McGarity and Sally Peterson McGarity. She passed away Sunday April 30, 2006 at Morehouse General Hospital in Bastrop. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnston is preceded in death by her husband, Hue R. ' Pokie' Johnston, and a sister, Oleta Way. Mrs. Johnston was a member of the Cherry Ridge Baptist Church. Surviving Mrs. Elsie Johnston is her son; Larry 'Peanut' Johnston of Bastrop, three daughters; Cynthia Nellams and husband Keith of Bastrop, Carol Turnbow and husband Danny of Bastrop, Connie Johnston of Bastrop, eight grandchildren; Angie Foster, Gary Johnston, Rusty Johnston, Tracie Ray, Ashley Cox, Jeffery Turnbow, Casey Turnbow, and Chase Warren, four great-grandchildren; Kayleigh Johnston, Alissa Foster, Braxton Johnston, Jaislynn Ray, and four sisters; Effie Fuller of Little Rock, Arkansas, Hazel Claybaugh of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Evelyn Ramer of Fordyce, Arkansas, and Joyce Tilbury of Bastop. Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Johnston, Rusty Johnston, Jeffery Turnbow, Casey Turnbow, Joseph Ray, and Dale Foster.
