Terrence J. McDonnell

VISITATION and MEMORIAL MASS Information is now available....... Terrence J. “Terry” “TJ” McDonnell, a warm, loving and kind man passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at his home in Huntingdon Valley on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at the age of 64. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Rosemary and Donald F. McDonnell, Sr. Faith, family & friendship. These were the things that defined Terry. He made friends wherever he went. He loved getting to know people, telling stories, singing karaoke & making people laugh. He had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor. He was the bridge in connecting with cousins we had never met both in the Philadelphia area, England & Ireland. He was learning about our genealogy & loved being part of such a big family. He remembered it all too. He never forgot a name or a face. It might take him a bit to place someone but he always figured it out! He lit up a room with his big, bright smile & greeted you with a big bear hug. He had a way of making everyone he met feel important & valued. He actually made friendship into an art form. He had the biggest heart & the kindest soul, a great sense of humor & a jolly laugh. He had a gift with words too. He wrote beautifully & was a stickler for correct grammar. He could also do a killer accent!! He was a man of strong faith, involved in the music ministry with his guitar & his beautiful voice. He was always there to lend a helping hand to people whether driving someone to an appointment or keeping someone company. He could cheer someone up just by showing up with pizza & a movie! He was caregiver to our mother in her last years as she declined with dementia. He was insightful & wise & always a good listener, although we all know he loved to talk !!! Terry was also an open book, who bravely shared the trials of his life. But in spite of his hardships, he always, always had a positive outlook. He will be missed by so many! Rest In Peace, my dear brother. We know you are singing with the angels now in the Lord’s choir! We love you! ️ Surviving are TJ’s sons, Matthew and his wife Alyssa, Anthony and Christopher, his siblings, Donald F., Jr., Colleen Bruno (Paul), Shawn, Mark (Linda), David, Rosemary Albanese (Joseph), Stephen (Barbara), nieces, nephews, their families, his aunts, Maureen McDonnell, Dolores Grady, many cousins and dear friends. Terry's family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, May 1st, 2021 from 8:30 AM until the celebration of his funeral Mass at 10:00AM in Maternity BVM Church, 9220 Old Bustleton Avenue, Philadelphia, Pa 19115. His Inurnment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Due to the pandemic, masks and social distancing are required.
