Paul L. Patterson

Paul L. Patterson, 81, of Bloomington, IL, passed away on December 19, 2020. Paul was born in Bloomington to Clyde and Juanita Patterson on June 25, 1939. He married Constance, December 13, 1958. He graduated from Normal Community High School and farmed in the Bloomington, Downs, Heyworth and Le Roy area for 60+ years. After farming corn and soybean for many years, he later turned his attention to raising trees. There are many trees planted throughout central Illinois that have come from Paul’s love of trees. Paul is survived by his wife of 62 years and three daughters Laura (John) Oschwald of Mahomet IL, Sarah (Will) Cook of Cherokee IA, and Holly (David) Norton of Bushnell IL, seven grandchildren Paul Kurtenbach, Kelly Kurtenbach Schmit, David Cook, Jessica Cook Wieland, Matthew Norton, Michael Norton, and Katelyn Norton, six great-grandchildren, and one sister, Delores McClure of Bloomington IL. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Pat Patterson, of Towanda IL and one brother-in-law, Robert McClure. Paul and Constance built a legacy through their love of family. Many happy times were shared throughout their life and the memories of these times, along with Paul’s famous quotes, will live on through his children and their families. Cremation rights have been accorded. Private family services will be held at a later date. Burial of ashes will be at the Funks Grove Cemetery, Funks Grove Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Funks Grove Cemetery Association in memory of Paul L. Patterson and earmarked for tree planting and care.
