Roger L. Lundy

<p>Roger L. Lundy, age 87, a man of deep faith who loved Christmas, will be&nbsp;celebrating this Season with Jesus. He moved to his eternal home on December 5,&nbsp;2020.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>He was born March 8, 1933 in Allen County, Lima, Ohio to the late Floyd Emmitt&nbsp;Lundy and Sylvia Gladys (Tice) Lundy. On June 13, 1958 he married Alma&nbsp;(Wilson) Lundy who survives.&nbsp;</p> <p>A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle he&nbsp;will be missed by his loved ones.</p> <p>As a life-long patriot, he served as a Marine during the Korean conflict. He later&nbsp;reenlisted to serve in the Army.</p> <p>Roger&#39;s journey of faith began at the First Church of God where he served in&nbsp;various leadership positions during his time in Sidney. He also attended Burns&nbsp;Avenue Church of God in Lake Wales, FL where he was instrumental in starting&nbsp;the church preschool and later moved to Anderson, IN where he resided for 29&nbsp;years. He was involved in civic activities including Boy Scout leader, softball&nbsp;coach, and the Civil Defense. He was the director of the Red Cross during the&nbsp;blizzard of 1978 and volunteered in Johnstown, PA during their great flood.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;He retired as a Sargent after 14 years at the Sidney Police Department.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;A highlight of the last 20 years was portraying Santa which brought great joy to&nbsp;countless families and children. His pockets often contained small surprises for&nbsp;children he encountered throughout the year.</p> <p>He is survived by their children: Michael L. (Sheila) Lundy of Sidney, Greg (Jane)&nbsp;Lundy of Sidney, Pam (Don) Wright of Atlanta, Georgia, Rick (Lois) Lundy of&nbsp;Sidney, Roger D. Lundy of Indianapolis, Indiana.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;He loved his grandchildren who are; Sherry Shoemaker (William), Michael S.&nbsp;Lundy, Brian (Kris) Lundy, Joel (Anna) Wildermuth, Hannah (Michael)&nbsp;Wildermuth, Naomi Wildermuth, Scott Lundy, Shad DeVelvis, Danielle&nbsp;Alexander, Shane (Justina) Wright, Ethan Wright, Julie (Andrew) Hayes, Leslie&nbsp;(Codie) Blackburn, Laura (Andrew) Jimenez, Ashlie (Mitchell) Bruns, Joshua&nbsp;Lundy, Anna Lundy, and Caleb Lundy.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>Great-grandchildren are; Rachel Shoemaker, Hannah Shoemaker, Kelsey Farrell,&nbsp;Madalynn Lundy, Carson Lundy, Alexander Lundy, Andrew Lundy, Audriana&nbsp;Lundy, Ayden Lundy, Elam Wildermuth, Jackson Blackburn, Cooper Blackburn,&nbsp;Savanah Jimenez, Layla Jimenez, Ayanah Jimenez, Logan DeVelvis, Oliver&nbsp;DeVelvis, Lillian (Josh) Richardson, Kaycee Fortkamp, Kylee Fortkamp,&nbsp;Savannah Alexander, and one great-great-grandchild, Priscilla Richardson.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;Also surviving are brother, Floyd (Kathy) Lundy of Bellefontaine and&nbsp;sister-in-law, Kay Lundy of Delaware, Ohio. He was preceded in death by brother,&nbsp;Rusty Lundy and infant brother, Richard.</p> <p>Family and friends may visit on Friday, December 11, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. to&nbsp;12:00 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney. Funeral services&nbsp;will be held at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Floyd Lundy, officiating. Burial will follow&nbsp;with the US Marine Corps and the Shelby Co.
