Clifford “Cliff” Ray Martin, 80 of Stamford passed away Friday December 4, 2020 in Stamford. Graveside service will be 11:00 am Monday December 7th in the Highland Memorial Cemetery with Doug Stanley officiating under the direction of Kinney-Underwood Funeral Home. Cliff was born October 2, 1940 in Batesville, Arkansas. He was one of twelve children born to Mack Sr. and Hattie Mae (Grundy) Martin. He moved from Missouri to Stamford in 1995. He married Mary F. Giddings in 1997 in Stamford. She passed away January 21, 2011. Cliff loved to hang out with his wife and family. He was somewhat a loner but enjoyed being with family and friends watching football and doing things outside. His favorite team was the San Francisco 49ers. He would laugh and joke when the 49ers would play against the Dallas Cowboys. Dad would let it be known that the 49ers were “The Team” when they defeated the Cowboys. He worked at the cotton gin in Stamford many years. He later went to work at Skyview Living Center as a janitor. Cliff found joy working at Skyview and became very fond of the residents there. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary, a son Gene Giddings, a daughter Rita Batie and eight siblings. He is lovingly survived by his children Sammy and April Reed of Midland, Marshall and Beverly Harris of Houston, Shirley and Wendell Clark of College Station and Theresa and Mack Lee Sr. of Hamlin; a special niece Cecil Lewis of Houston; two special grandchildren whom he helped to raise Shauntae Johnson and Tiphney Jordon; a special daughter-in-law Vivian Giddings; three siblings; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
