Roger Leon Carmer

<p>Roger Leon Carmer, 66, of North Vernon, passed away on December 3, 2020, at Franciscan Health Indianapolis.</p> <p>Born April 14, 1954, in Greensburg, he was the son of the late Elmer Carmer and Olive (Baker) Hartwell. He married Lisa Kieffer in January of 1985 at their home; she survives.</p> <p>While growing up in Jennings County, Roger worked at the Texaco gas station owned by his parents in North Vernon. He worked as a brakeman for the B &amp; O Railroad. Roger later became owner and operator of Carmer (Dump) Trucking for over 30 years. He also owned and drove school buses for Jennings County Schools for 20 years. He enjoyed raising Shire horses and Hereford cattle. He spent his time restoring old tractors, remodeling and building projects on his farm in Southern Jennings County, since 1990. He also enjoyed tractor rides and car shows.</p> <p>Surviving with his wife are children, James (Susan) Carmer, Amy (Josh) Voss, and Leah (Brian) Gault, all of North Vernon, and Michael (Christi) Hurst of Milliken, Colorado; grandchildren, Ryan and Morgan Carmer, Dillon Cockerham, Meegan, Madison and Macie Voss, Wyatt, Ethan, and Luke Hurst and Katerina Gault; and sisters, Judy Mullikin, Cathy (Don) Shuler, Shelley (Larry) Biehle, and Betty (Richard) Schneider, all of North Vernon, and Connie (Dave) Geis of Seymour.</p> <p>Roger was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Richard Carmer.</p> <p>A Celebration of Life for Roger will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Dupont Fire Department in Dupont, Indiana. Dove-Sharp &amp; Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation was entrusted with these arrangements.</p> <p>Memorials may be made in honor of Roger through the funeral home to St. Jude Children&rsquo;s Research Hospital.</p>
