Obituary
On Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Yale New Haven Hospital, New Haven, CT, God called home our beloved Bennie W. Coleman. Bennie was born in Clover, VA on February 4, 1940 to Oliver R. Coleman and Susie L. King-Coleman. Bennie professed his faith at a young age. He attended the Clover Public School System. He was employed at Abel Catering Company for over 40 years before retiring in 2015. Bennie was an Awesome Bowler, Met Fan, loved playing cards and some baseball skills. He was affectively known as BC, Blackjack and Grandpa Bennie. Bennie truly loved the time he spent with his family and friends. He leaves to cherish his loving memories his wife; Tanya Jeter-Coleman, New Haven, CT. (3) daughters; Patricia Coleman of Virginia, Sheila (Rick) Stancil and Keyana Moore both of New Haven, CT., (2) stepdaughters; Yvonne Ford and Robin Samuel both of Waterbury, CT., his adopted daughter; Jenna Williams-Coleman of West Haven, CT., (3) sons; Bennie Lee (Susie) Coleman, Stanley Coleman of Virginia and Anthony (Tashena) Moore of New Haven, CT., (3) sisters; Lousie Morton of White Plains, NY, Mamie Grinnan of New Haven, CT, Quitana (Colonious) King of NC, (1) brother; Ernest Coleman of Virginia, his mother-in-law; Brenda Jeter of New Haven, CT, (3) sister-in-law; Jennifer Jeter of New Haven, CT, Felecia Grimes of Massachusetts, and Georgina (Ann) Coleman of Hamden . (1) Maternal Aunt; 24 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews. He also raised several loving foster children over the years. Bennie was preceded in death by (4) sisters; Josephine Harris, Ida Cannon, Annie Coleman, and Pinkey Foster. (3) Brothers; Walter Coleman, Oliver Coleman, Jr. and Tony King, his father-in-law; William Jeter, (2) brother-in-law’s; Wendell Jeter, George Lacks and Willie Grinnan; (1) sister-in-law; Delores Coleman.
