Robert Patterson Rogers Jr. Rolla, Missouri Obituary

Robert Patterson Rogers Jr.

Robert Patterson Rogers, Jr., of Rolla, was born in Portland, Oregon on August 2, 1936, was a sinner much forgiven and died December 2, 2020. Robert was a baptized covenantal Christian of pious practice and liberal persuasion who got bewitched by Jesus at an early age through the smell of his grandmother’s freshly baked hot crossed buns before dawn on an Easter morning. He loved his family, thought his friends the best in the world, was inspired by worship, and was most at home in the out-of-doors. During the last years of this life, Robert received excellent medical care which he hoped would become available to all. Robert was ordained to Ministry in the Presbyterian Church, USA in 1961 and served as parish pastor, Regional College Minister, and retired as Clinical Pastoral Educator, Supervisor Emeritus. In retirement he served as Chaplain to Phelps County Democratic Party. Robert is predeceased by his parents, Robert and Jane Rogers, his grandparents, and a son, Bret. He is survived by his wonderful and loving wife, Linda, whom he never felt he rightly deserved, his brothers, Michael and Joel and their wives Judy and Joan; his children, Leslie and Adam and his wife Lisa; grandchildren, Dylan, Adrian, and Aelita; stepchildren, Amie and her husband Ariel, Sarah and her husband Jason, and Matthew and his wife Courtney; step grandchildren, Maya, Julian, Gabriela, Elina, Elijah, Gracie, Caleb, Joshua, Cora, and Tristan; and great grandchildren, Samantha and Jordan. A memorial service for Robert Rogers will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in his memory are suggested to Phelps Health Hospice.
