Joyce Nielson Obituary

Joyce Allen Nielson, 93, passed away on December 1, 2020 at her home in Sandy, Utah.

She was born on December 23, 1926 in Antimony to Chester Allen and Leaprele Flanigan Allen. Her marriage to Harold Nielson was dissolved in 1980.

She attended Utah State in Cedar City and then Logan 1945-49, leaving school with the death of her brother in Europe. Mid-life; she, as a single parent, worked as a collector for First Security Bank, retiring in 2005. Over the years she taught Primary and Sunday School. She enjoyed travel with her sons and grandchildren. She was an avid reader and active citizen. She enjoyed two-way radio programs.

Survived by sons Michael Nielson, Redondo Beach, California; Allen Nielson, Kettle Falls, Washington, and Robert Nelson, Sandy, Utah; also grandchildren Kimberle Nielson, Scott Nielson, Mathew Nielson, Danny Nielson (deceased), Andrew Nielson, and Christina Nielson; also Amanda Nielson, Rebecca Nielson, and Emilie Nielson. Grandma Joyce also had 15 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by Drew Allen, age 3 in a flu epidemic; sister Dott Allen; brothers Champ Allen, Wayne Allen, killed in WWII; Wayne Allen, and Calvert Allen.

Graveside ceremony at Sandy City Cemetery on December 5, 2020 at 11:00 am; memorial service in mid-2021.
