Anthony J. "Tony" Pellegrino Obituary

Anthony J. “Tony” Pellegrino, 78, Altoona, passed away Thursday at Cambria Care Center in Ebensburg. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Samuel F. and Mary C. (Romagino) Pellegrino Sr. He later married Eleanor Barclay on July 26, 1966.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years; a daughter, Robin (Allen) Hughes; 2 grandchildren: Natasha (Robert) Hughes and Allen Jr. (Brandi) Hughes; 5 great-grandchildren: Breanna Hughes, Ayden Hughes, Annabella Hughes, and Acacia Hughes and Damian Golemboski; 4 step-great-grandchildren: Nora, Katie, Loy, and Logan; 4 sisters: Maryanne (Vernon) Litzinger, Joan Estep, Nancy Jo (Terry) Butler, and Lisa Ann (Skip) Pellegrino, all of Altoona; two brothers: Samuel Jr. and Joseph Sr. (Beth) Pellegrino, both of Altoona; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Anthony.

Tony served as a specialist in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He later retired from the Altoona Water Authority with 37 years of service.

He was a life member of the Bavarian Aid Society and a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, where he served as an usher.

A private visitation will be held at the convenience of the family. A public funeral Mass will be held at 10:30am, Monday, Dec. 7, 2020 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery with military honors. Arrangements by Santella Funeral Home.
