Apolonia "Polly" Williams

<p>Apolonia Rose Williams, 97, of Port Charlotte, FL, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Solaris Healthcare of Charlotte Harbor. Apolonia &ldquo;Polly&rdquo; was born December 26, 1922 in New Britain, CT to the late Joseph and Roszalia (Drezek) Zysk. On June 14, 1943, she married Lawrence C. Williams in Paris, TX. After the war, they settled in Milford, CT where they raised their children. She moved to Port Charlotte in 2007 from Milford.</p> <p>At age 19, she obtained the position of a skilled hand painter of stencils and fine instruments of military parts in Bridgeport, CT. Later she moved onto helicopters at Sikorsky aircraft, in Stratford, CT. She worked on American military aircraft from the Corsair to the Comanche to the Black Hawk. Apolonia was awarded the highest clearance to work on the Marine One Presidential Fleet helicopter. She loved her job and for the rest of her life would tell stories of her time at Sikorsky&#39;s. She remained there until her retirement in her 70&rsquo;s. In addition to raising a family of six children and working at Sikorsky&#39;s, Apolonia would work with her husband to support his land surveying business.</p> <p>Apolonia had a love for animals and was known for taking in any animal that needed help. She also was very generous to those who were in need, going out of her way to help people, especially if they needed food. She loved going to the casino and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.</p> <p>She is survived by her loving family, five daughters: Audrey Williams of Temecula, CA, Linda Condon (Tom) of Port Charlotte, FL, Claudia Voight of Windham, VT, Sherrie Williams (Charles Bechtle) of Punta Gorda, FL, and Heidi Williams of Port Charlotte, FL; a son, Larry Williams (Sue) of Kent, CT; 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Apolonia was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence C. Williams who died in 2014.</p> <p>Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, December 11, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Cody White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT. Masks and social distancing are required. Interment will be private. A Funeral Service will commence at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. The service will be livestreamed.
