William T. Barker, Sr.

William T. Barker, Sr., age 79 of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of Dec. 1, 2020, at his residence. Born July 16, 1941, in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late William B. and Mildred L. (Jordan) Barker. On June 27, 1970, he married his beloved wife of 50 years, Kathleen Susann (Jeffcoat) Barker. She survives at home. William worked at Castle Brand meat packing plant, for 31 years. For a short time, he worked for Sliver Star Meats, Inc., retiring as a butcher. What gave William the most joy in life, was spending time with his family. Along with his wife, William is survived by three sons, Tom (Cathy) Barker of New Castle, PA; Matthew Barker (Lisa Heasley) of New Castle, PA; Michael (Jessica) Barker of Wilmington, North Carolina; two sisters, Shirrl (David) Beeson of Huntsville, AL; Sandy (Rob) Hempfling of Slippery Rock, PA and eight grandchildren, Caleb, Ethan, Trey, Luke, Laban, Morgan, Jacob and Jared. In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by two brothers, David, and Chuck Barker and one sister, Linda Dean. Visitation will be held on Friday Dec. 4th from 3:00 – 5:00 PM at Gardner Chapel Assembly of God, 2809 Forest Ave., New Castle, PA 16101. A service will follow immediately after visitation at 5:00 PM with Karl Moore officiating. All visitors are asked to adhere to the CDC guidelines regarding social distancing and wearing face masks.
