Selma B. Linrud Hopkins Obituary

Selma Linrud Hopkins, 93, died Monday, November 30th, 2020, at a Minot assisted living center.  Selma Beatrice Haugen was born in Ryder, North Dakota on July 7, 1927 to Rudolph and Lucinda (Pollert) Haugen. She was raised in Ryder and graduated from Ryder High School.     Selma married Lawrence Linrud on September 1, 1946, in Minot. They farmed and raised their family north of Velva.  Lawrence and Selma were members of North Prairie Lutheran Church where she was organist, taught Sunday School and was a member of Ladies Aid.  She also belonged to Velva Homemakers, was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Music Mothers and was a charter member of the volunteers at Souris Valley Care Center, Velva. Lawrence died on May 21, 1979.    Selma married Kenneth Hopkins on October 16, 1982, and they lived in Minot, where Selma was an active volunteer for Trinity Auxiliary.  Faith and family were very important to Selma.  She is survived by husband Ken; sons, Larry (Gail) Linrud and Lyle (Bobbie) Linrud, all of Velva; daughter, Sue (Rod) Wilson of Minot; grandchildren, Jennifer (Willie) Sinsel, Christopher (Stacy) Linrud, Ryan (Czesia Goetz) Wilson, David (Chelsea) Wilson, Nathan (Krystal McCarty) Wilson, Lisa (Rich) Marcis, and Michael Linrud; great-grandchildren, Aimee and Morgan Sinsel, Becca and Summer Linrud, Carter, Charlie, Addely and Silas Wilson; Bobbie and Ernie Marcis; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Bernice; brother, Wendell; and husband, Lawrence.  A Public Graveside Service will be held on Friday, December 4, 2020, at 2:00 pm at North Prairie Lutheran Cemetery, rural Simcoe, ND.
