Harold Jerome Burton Obituary

Harold Jerome Burton, 61 of Benton Harbor MI was born October 19, 1959, in Memphis Tennessee, to Willie T. Burton Sr. and Josephine Burton. He departed this life on November 30, 2020, at Spectrum Medical Center, St. Joseph MI., surrounded by his loving wife. daughter Shamika, and his mother and father.

Harold gave his life to Christ at an early age, and was baptized at the New Paradise Missionary Baptist Church by his father Pastor Willie T. Burton Sr.  Harold served on the Transportation Committee and as Sound Room Tech. Harold attended Benton Harbor High School, where he was a proud graduate of the class of 1978 and he never missed a reunion. He also attended Lake Michigan College. He married the love of his life. Carolyn Patterson on December 5, 1998, after dating for 10 Until death did, they part.

He worked at Whirlpool Corporation for 9 yrs. before becoming employed at Bosch Braking Systems, remaining employed 28 yrs. before retiring in June of 2019.
He enjoyed his family especially his grandkids, spending time with them fishing and camping. He had an avid love for building and fixing up fish tanks. He also enjoyed watching Westerns and keeping his yard up. Harold loved to cook, always the grill master for the class reunions.

 His love will forever live on in the hearts of his loving wife Carolyn Burton, Parents Willie T Burton Sr. and Josephine; daughters Jutay(Perry) Smith of Indianapolis, In; Shamika Hooks of Benton Harbor, MI; son Charles (Shenita)Patterson of Benton Harbor, MI; 3 brothers Wille(Shannon) Burton; Duane(Lisa) Burton; and Christopher Burton, all of Benton Harbor MI; two sisters, Jackie(Bruce)Haynes and  Thomasina(Von Derrick) Clement of Texas. He also leaves 6 grandchildren, Moe-nae and Quan-Dae Patterson of Kalamazoo MI; Perry and JuVontay Smith of Indianapolis, In and Jarrod and J’viana Guidry, of Benton Harbor MI. He also leaves a godson Ebvon Williams and a special sister-in-law Sherrie (Henry) Nichols of South Carolina and two special friends Jackie McIntosh of Georgia and Terry Ruff of Kalamazoo MI.

He was preceded in death by his Maternal and Paternal grandparents.
