Cynthia Burley Obituary

Cynthia G. Burley, acknowledged as Gail by her family and friends, was born in Atlanta, GA on October 11, 1951. She was the fourth of nine children born to the late Norma L. Burley. The family relocated when Gail was a young child to Wilmington, DE. She departed this life on November 27, 2020 peacefully while she slept. Gail was educated in the Wilmington Public School system where she attended Wilmington High School and later took classes at Goldey Beacom College. She enjoyed singing and shopping. She was raised by her mother; Norma L. Burley who showed her tough love and what sacrifice was truly about. It was through her example that Gail was able to become the loving and loyal person everyone knows and remembers. Gail always persevered. This perseverance led her to retire with 22 years of service to the U.S. Army National Guard. She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, DeAnthony L. Burley, Sr. (La Tonya), and Jason D. Burley. Gail was proud of her five grandchildren, Sheri L. Burley, Erika R. Burley, La Tonya D. Burley II, DeAnthony L. Burley, Jr. and Dayauna S. Gordon; one great grandchild, Deaira L. Bryant. She was blessed to have eight siblings, Jacqueline Grimes (Raymond), Jerry T. Burley (Sandra), Brenda D. Redden (Willis), Stephen J. Burley (Marie), Charles R. Burley, Ronica F. Burley-Curtis (Charles), Traci C. Bishop (Brian), Eric L. Burley (deceased); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
