Graveside services for John Thomas Kiernan, 74, of Lovington, NM will be held on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Lovington Cemetery with Gene Wilde III, pastor at First Christian church, officiating. John was born on May 17, 1946 in New York, NY to Michael and Florence (Graham) Kiernan and passed away on November 19, 2020 in Roswell, NM. He was raised in NY and after graduating high school he joined the Marines where he served as a Lt/Corporal during the Vietnam Conflict. He came to Lovington with his family and met Loralyn in Hobbs at Good Sam, where they both worked, and they were married on September 9, 1988 at Good Sam. They have shared thirty two years together. John worked for the Street Department for many years but also did carpentry as his hobby, altho he made furniture, bookcases, tables and many more nice wood pieces. He liked video games and the computer. When he lived in NY, he was a drummer with a band that played in Canada and NY and still used his fingers to play drums on everything close to him. John loved watching his grandkids and he had a great sense of humor. He was a Christian and really liked reading his bible in the bathtub. Preceding him in death were his parents, Michael and Florence; three brothers: Walter, Billy and Michael Kiernan and two sisters: Jeanie and Joanie Kiernam (twins). Surviving him is his wife, Loralyn of Lovington; five sons: Chris Williams of Phoenix; Daniel and wife Brandi Williams of Santa Fe, NM, Philip and wife Alysia Kiernan of Rio Rancho, NM and Tommy and Brian Kiernan both of New York; one daughter: Kathleen and husband Gilbert Valenzuela of Lovington; one brother: Dennis Kiernan of New Jersey; eight grandchildren: Marcus, Samantha, Damian, Alithea, Kamdyn, Caleb, Tauriel, and Kaizyn.
