Richard Worby Sr.

Richard Worby Sr., age 87, of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Lydia C. (Diaz) Worby, passed away Saturday, November 28, 2020 in East Northport, New York. Richard was born July 19, 1933 in Bridgeport, CT, son of the late Reginald and Alice (Lannigan) Worby and had been a lifetime area resident. Richard grew up and lived in Bridgeport until he moved to Stratford in 1973 where he lived for the remainder of his adult life. He briefly lived on Long Island, New York with his daughter and son-in-law until his passing. Richard was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War and was a retired flooring and tile installer. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, shooting pool and duck pin bowling and was involved in many leagues. He also enjoyed doing puzzles and spending time with his family. Survivors include his daughter, Erica Lanzarone and her husband Alex; two grandchildren, Rick Worby III and Shealeen Worby; one sister, Bernice Robichaud and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Richard Worby Jr., a sister Laura Pace and a brother Edwin Worby. Friends are invited to attend a Funeral service celebrated by Deacon John Piatak on Monday, December 7, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford, CT. Friends may visit with the family Monday before service time from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Face masks and social distancing are required. Interment will be private. Donations can be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org or a Veteran’s charity of choice.
