Cloyde 'Ted" Palmer Obituary

Cloyde ‘Ted’ Palmer, age 69, of Shenango Township, passed away the evening of Nov. 30, 2020, at UPMC Jameson Hospital. Born May 14, 1951, in New Castle, he was the son of the late James Q. Palmer, Sr., and Helen L. (Singer) Palmer. On February 28, 1975, he married his beloved wife of 45 years, Carolyn (Houk) Palmer. She survives at home. Ted was a 1969 graduate of New Castle/Vo-tech High School. He was a proud member of the Army, where he bravely and faithfully served his country in the Vietnam War. He worked for CSX Railroad Company, as an engineer, until his retirement in 2011. Ted enjoyed being a craftsman, hunting, fishing, spending time in the outdoors at his camp, but most of all, he enjoyed the time he spent with his family. In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Michelle (Craig) Wilson of Volant, PA; Heather (Josh) McDanel of New Castle, PA; one brother, James Q. (Leslie) Palmer, Jr., of Pittsboro, North Carolina; and four grandchildren, Alyssa & Collin Wilson and Hannah & Hailey McDanel. Along with his parents, Ted was preceded in death by one sister, Marlene Nelson. Visitation will be held on Thursday Dec. 3rd from 11:00 – 1:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A service will follow immediately after visitation at 1:00 PM with Pastor Jordan Rimmer, officiating. All visitors are asked to adhere to the CDC guidelines regarding wearing face masks and social distancing. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.
