Geraldine McClure Jerry Levins

Geraldine M. “Jerry” Levins, 74, of Shiloh, GA ,died Wednesday, October 9, 2013 in Columbus. Funeral services will be 3:00 pm, EST, Sunday, October 13, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Warm Springs with Dr. Bob Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh Cemetery with the men of the church choir and deacons serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be 1:30-3:00 pm, EST, prior to the service at the church. Ms. Levins was born August 23, 1939, in Shiloh, the daughter of Harry and Betty Slaughter McClure. She was a graduate of Columbus High School, Norman College and attended Mercer University. She was a pre-school teacher at First Baptist Church of Opelika, AL and continued there as the church hostess for many years. Ms. Levins later worked for Southern Electronics in Opelika and in 1996 moved to her hometown of Shiloh to care for her parents. In 1997, she accepted the position of Pianist and Organist for the First Baptist Church of Warm Springs. She served the church until her death not only as a musician but as a deacon. In addition, she served three years as the director of the Meriwether County Faith in Action. Ms. Levins was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Steve McClure and a daughter, Debbie Levins. Survivors include her daughters, Donna Mowery of Opelika, Pam Holmes and her husband, Ray of Sylacauga, AL; her son, Bill Levins and his wife, Mandy of Opelika; her dear friend Hank Wilson of Columbus and eight grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Ms. Levins may be made to First Baptist Church of Warm Springs, P.O. Box 383, Warm Springs, GA 31830.
