<p>Hilario "Larry" Pena Jr, 59, of Hobbs, New Mexico, passed away on November 19, 2020, at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock, Texas. </p> <p>Larry was born in Hobbs, New Mexico, on December 11, 1960, to Hilario and Paula Pena. </p> <p>After graduating from Hobbs High, Larry traveled across America as a professional truck driver, which introduced him to people of different races, creeds, and backgrounds. Always with a smile on his face accented with a joke on his lips, Larry's personality was infectious. </p> <p>The kind of man immune from following the crowd, Larry's signature look was all his: sleeveless button shirts designed by the fashion house Fruit of the Loom, classic denim jeans sold exclusively at local department stores, a reliable pair of boots, and a Dallas Cowboy baseball hat. It was often said that there wasn't a stranger that Larry didn't know or a smile he didn't share. </p> <p>Those that knew Larry knew of his life-long love affair with music, singing, and dancing. All of which he treasured sharing with his beloved wife, Deborah Estrada Pena, who survives him. The two were married during Labor Day Weekend in 2018 in Hobbs, NM. </p> <p>Larry is predeceased by his father, Hilario B. Pena Sr. </p> <p>Larry is survived by his son Thomas Pena and his wife Sidney Arnold, son Justin Pena and his wife Kelly Pena, stepdaughters; Tiffany Hernandez, and Jennifer Valenzuela, six grandchildren with one on the way this coming January. </p> <p>Larry is lovingly remembered by his mother Paula Pena, his six sisters: Alice Garcia, Corina Ford-Bergeron, Diane Hernandez, Beth Flores, Aryel Pena, and his favorite birthday present, sister Debbie Morris, his nieces and nephews, dear friend Dana McPherson and his beloved chocolate lab Buck, and the rest of his family and friends. </p> <p>Unfortunately, there will be no memorial services due to the pandemic. </p> <p>"The last goodbye's the hardest one to say, and this is where the cowboy rides away." </p>Obituary
